Krishnapuram Palace

The 18th century iconic Krishnapuram Palace was built by Marthanda Varma, former king of Travancore. The palace exemplifies classic South Indian architecture and its mural paintings are very impressive. There is an archaeological museum inside the palace where antique sculptures and exquisite paintings are put on display.

Backwaters

The backwaters of Alappuzha enchant visitors with their picturesque beauty and amazing tranquillity. Spices, canned seafood and silks are also good buys here.

Best time to visit

Winter season, from November to February, is the best time to explore Alappuzha when the weather remains pleasant and mild. During this period, the temperature ranges between 17 and 32 degrees Celsius.

By Air: Cochin International Airport is about 85 kms from Alappuzha.

By Rail: Alappuzha Railway Station is the main railway station connecting Alappuzha to the rest cities of the country.

By Road: There are regular state-run buses from Alappuzha to all major cities in Kerala. Buses are available in luxury and budget categories. One can also hire a taxicab to reach Alappuzha.
