Deccan Odyssey is a joint venture of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and the Taj Group of Hotels. The first Deccan Odyssey luxury train tour was started on 16th January, 2004 from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Since then, the extraordinary train has continued impressing travellers with its splendour.
The luxury train features 21 vintage cabins that are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, personal attendants, a bar, well-maintained lounges, rejuvenating spa, conference facilities, laundry services, etc. Its two restaurants, Peshwa I and Peshwa II, successfully delight the senses of the guests with lip-smacking Indian, Continental, Maharashtrian, Goa and Chinese delicacies. The bar promises travellers a beautiful evening where exotic Indian and international drinks can be relished.
The flawless services and gracious hospitality, provided by the staff of the train, are something to be experienced. The opulent train comes with all modern facilities like attached toilets, wall to wall carpeting, running hot and cold water, shower, intercom, channel music and CD/MP3 player.
Tourists can avail conference facilities at this luxury train’s conference-cum- business centre, which can accommodate up to 30 people. They can also shop for a lot of attractive handicraft items like paintings, metal ware, furniture, jewellery and fabrics from various destinations while on the journey.
Personal attendant: Every single need of travellers is taken care of by well-trained ‘Khidmatgars’ or personal attendants.
