History

Palace on Wheels is the real pride of Indian Railways. On rolling back wheels of time, kings and the Viceroy of British India used to travel in these coaches. However, after independence, these coaches were not used and remained parked in the state. On 26th January, 1982, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways rolled out this special heritage train to offer the taste of Rajasthan’s opulence to travellers visiting India.

This train matches the interiors of the majestic state with 14 carriages, 2 restaurants cum kitchen cars, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 service Cars.
