The Golden Chariot

History

An outcome of a MoU sighed between the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and the Railways Ministry, the Golden Chariot was flagged off for the first time on March 10, 2008. The train was named after the well-known Stone Chariot in Hampi, a world heritage site.

The Golden Chariot lets you travel in the lap of luxury where you stay in brilliant accommodation units, designed using elaborate carvings, premium interiors, antique paintings and a royal ambience. The Cabin Coaches have a range of rooms, including 26 twin beds, 17 double bed cabins and 1 cabin for physically challenged.

All the rooms have been named after various dynasties that ruled Karnataka in the past like Kadamba, Rastrakota, Ganga, Hoysala, Chalukya, Adhilshahi, Bhahamani, Sangama, Yudukula, Shathavashna and Vijayanagar. Golden Chariot is a perfect exemplar of rich Indian history and modern day amenities.

The train houses two restaurants - Nala and Ruchi serving a grand menu with vegetarian and non-vegetarian culinary delights. To spend some lighter moments enjoying your favourite cocktail, visit Madira, the well-stocked bar of the train.

Golden Chariot is ideal for all kind of travellers, including leisure holidaymakers to business groups. The conference coach of the train, with an accommodation capacity of about 30 people, is perfect for conducting business meetings.
